Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that defies usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Disclosed
According to the official release, "A mysterious confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of forbidden practices and fearsome changes echo through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret sect.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Transformations
The trailer features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an unique katana alongside several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This signifies scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
