Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure direct passage to the last 16, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved outmatched against a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
